You could call it coincidence that both myself and TOCS managed to separately find and suggest The Lance Vance Dance submit a mix but I’d prefer to think of it as when something’s good then it’s good.

The LVD origins tale is a fairly standard one; two friends with a shared affinity for the disco, funk, soul and r&b of yesteryear came together to put on a night in Glasgow nightlife staple Nice n Sleazy. What has grown from there though is a name synonymous with good times and good music.

Fast approaching is their 21st outing at Sleazy’s on the 20th of February. It’s another residents affair, as has been most of their nights, so good are they doing it for themselves. But they have been known to entertain a few guests, one of which you’ll find as this week’s Mini-Mix for Annie Mac, so they know what they are doing.

If more proof of this were needed then look no further than their Subcity Radio show, The LVD Presents: The Super Sounds Of Disco. With five episodes gone now and their sixth to air on the 7th of February it’s not so much a show as it is an education. Each show focuses on a different element integral to the history of the music they love so much. Their spotlight so far has been shone upon Tamla Motown and Marvin Gaye as well as a few other notable institutions. So please accept this taster as you follow the links and mark your diary.

Ladies and gentleman for Minder 052 I give you The Lance Vance Dance.
