When producing anything I feel that the process should be comprised of you acting and delivering with confidence and then being completely content with the outcome. This is how Mark's work feels to me and I’m jealous. Self doubt, uncertainty and frustration are emotions I am more used to experiencing when producing. Then I remember, I’ve been doing this for a few years while Mark has been at it for over 25. Suddenly my opening sentiment doesn’t seem all that appropriate or realistic and the quote, “The harder I work, the luckier I get” springs to mind.

As mentioned Mark Ryal has been DJing and producing for over 25 years now. He perfected the craft at house and after parties in and around Glasgow before becoming a regular at The Sub Club. Here you could have found him holding residencies alongside the likes of Domenic Cappello, Twitch, Harri, Funk D’Void and a whole host of other subbie stalwarts. As you might expect, holding down the booth of one of the most respected nightclubs in the land comes with its perks i.e. playing on the same bill as Derrick May, Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Mr Fingers aka Larry Heard, Ian Pooley, Carl Craig, Richie Hawtin, Derrick Carter the list goes on and on and doesn’t even take into account those who he entertains during his time in Nitsa Club, Barcelona.

Today Mark splits his time between his restaurant in Stiges and his other passion which you’re about to experience. Having had two cities play a big part in his life Mark has decided to honour both with two mixes for us. One which reflects his time in Glasgow and one which draws from his experiences in Barcelona. Beyond these you’ll find his Soundcloud is a trove of house jams created on the same hardware that helped spawn the genre as opposed to the vst’s and DAW’s that are common place today. Not to say one is better than the other but I’m sure you can tell the difference.
